Our professional fees are based on full or half day mediation, number of parties, and case type
Every mediation requires thoughtful preparation to ensure the day runs efficiently and productively. My flat fee includes all reasonable preparation time before the mediation session, including reviewing briefs and key documents, communicating with counsel, and planning the structure of the session. You will not be billed separately for this work. My goal is to arrive fully prepared so that we can maximize the time available to focus on resolution, not administration.
To secure the mediation date, I request 30 days’ advance payment of the flat fee. This allows me to reserve the scheduled day and time for your matter and ensures that adequate preparation time can be dedicated to the case. Once payment is received and our mediation agreement is signed, the date is confirmed and removed from my calendar for any other engagements. Electronic payments via ACH or credit/debit card through our secure LawPay portal are strongly preferred. Please note that a 3% merchant processing fee is added to all non-ACH payments.
Mediation does not always end the moment the session concludes. Sometimes parties need additional clarification of settlement terms, help addressing loose ends, or guidance if negotiations continue in the days immediately following the mediation. My flat fee includes reasonable follow-up assistance after the session at no additional charge. This may include answering questions from counsel, facilitating continued dialogue, clarifying terms discussed during the mediation, or helping the parties bridge a remaining gap if they are close to resolution. While extensive post-mediation negotiations or additional sessions may require a separate agreement, routine follow-up is included as part of my commitment to helping the parties reach closure. My goal is to support the resolution process from start to finish, ensuring that the progress made during mediation is not lost once the meeting ends.
When a mediation is scheduled, that date and preparation time are set aside exclusively for your matter. If the mediation is canceled or rescheduled with insufficient notice, it prevents other parties from securing that date and results in lost time that cannot be reallocated. If a mediation is canceled or rescheduled within fourteen (14) days of the scheduled session, the full flat fee becomes earned and non-refundable. If the matter resolves before the scheduled session and all parties notify me more than seven days in advance, the fee will be refunded in full. This policy helps maintain fairness to all participants and ensures that my calendar remains reliable for every client who entrusts me with their mediation.
